I’ve been a bit quiet this week coming back from my weekend away at the Wise Woman Retreat with Chonteau of Soul Care University. I’ve been enjoying taking her online herbal course, Intuitive Herbal Mentor Program, so when the opportunity came to spend a soulful weekend with her and a group of other like minded women I jumped at it. I came back so relaxed that it’s taken me a few days to get back into the groove of my daily routine! But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been creating. On the contrary, I’ve been doing a little bit everyday to feed my creative soul.
The past three days I’ve been working on a beaded wind chime. This has been a meditative journey that encouraged me to push past some resistance of trying tools I wasn’t overly familiar with and finishing a project without over-thinking it. I found a couple of pictures on Pinterest that inspired me of wind chimes others had made. Some of them were quite spectacular. I had to remind myself that my current creative goals are to do projects that can be done quickly, to use materials I have on hand, and to let go of the need for perfectionism.
While this was not a quick project, I did enjoy doing a little bit each day. Using materials I had on hand was not a problem once I let go of perfectionism and having to be exact on things. I dug around in my studio, found some little bells that would work, scavenged in our back yard to find a stick to use, and away I went stringing beads. I finished up today and couldn’t wait to hang it up on our patio!
In the pictures it’s hanging from the fan, but it’s since been moved into it’s permanent location where it will be seen every time we are outside. It makes me so happy to see all the colors glistening in the sun as the soft breeze rings the tiny bells. This is exactly why I started this challenge- to finish projects that make me and my loved ones happier every day.
What’s your favorite type of wind chime?
