My great intentions of posting regularly for this challenge went right out the window as summer vacation took hold fast and furious! Although I wasn’t posting I was still pursuing this challenge, although not regularly or stigmatically. My intent had been to do each of the 40 days in order, one section at a time. It seemed like a good idea except for one important fact- I forgot who I was for a moment! I want to think I’m an in order kinda gal, but the reality is I’m a bit more of a free spirit flitting from one are to the next at random. Ah well, what really matters is not how I did the challenge, but how I did in the challenge.
My record keeping is not always the most accurate. Just like I’m a free spirit in order, so too am I in recording things. “Close enough” sums up my style the best. I did keep some score which came out to:
35 bags in 25 days
BUT…..I know I did quite a bit more as I was often doing a little here and a little there filling up thrift store boxes and garbage bags on a weekly basis. So my close enough estimate is that I rocked this and probably did at least 100 bags…well, maybe closer to 40 bags 😉 And since I was doing a little bit each day, I definitely hit the 40 day mark, even if I don’t have a written record of it.
I feel this was an absolute success for me as is evident in how much less stuff there is in our house! I hadn’t done much cleaning all summer- hey, don’t judge, I got the important, germy areas on a regular basis! Yesterday I had some friends over and realized about 3 hours before they were coming, “oh CRAP, there’s crap everywhere!!!” My hubby and I were able to do a good cleaning and stash in dash in about 2 hours…and the stash and dash basket was really small…compared to past stash and dashes! I say that’s a 40 bags in 40 day SUCCESS right there!!!
- What I’ve learned from the past couple of challenges that I’ve done and (sort of) blogged about is that…
- I like challenges. A definite beginning and end help me to focus my efforts to get more done.
- Even if I don’t succeed to finishing the challenge 100% even doing part of it has left me better off then before.
- I like the idea of big, longer challenges, but I think I may do better with shorter ones. I’m trying some of those next.
Another challenge down! Basking in the soft light of success while I plan my next adventure.
