This year I’ve been on a decluttering crusade excavating into nooks and crannies to clean, clear, and organize our house and our lives. In an attempt to find a home for my new to me china set I cleared two shelves of office paper stuff out of a cabinet. There were stacks of papers including graph, lined, certificate, fancy resume, accounting, planner, and other stuff. Initially I was going to thrift it but then I had an aha creative flash of self described creative brilliancy- I would use it to paint and play on! Sketch pad, art journaling, painting it out, origami…so much I can use it for! Of course this is a big reason why I have so much clutter to begin with so I made a deal with myself that I could keep it if I used it immediately…
Which led me to create these four pages today that I will be using in an art journal/smash journal-y thing. I’m going to be painting a few more pages over the coming week to add to this particular journal and will share the final book when it’s finished. I’m having so much fun doing this! It’s very freeing to create fun backgrounds and just play on the papers.
If you saw yesterday’s post on the Precious Metal challenge from Jennibellie you may notice that I was inspired by that challenge to add some bronze and silver paint plus some shimmery purple ink. I love how these turned out. It always amazes me that the same paints can be used on four paintings and all four paintings will look completely different.
If you’d like to join me in making pages for a journal grab some paper from around your house and slap some paint on it to see what happens! Share your ideas for upcycling things around your house in the comments below.
